Poetry Community

Powow River Poets participate in a number of events each year at the April Newburyport Literary Festival including the popular Breakfast With the Poets feature that leads off the Festival. 

More recently, Powow has also taken part in  the new Massachusetts Poetry Festival held in Lowell each October.  Members have cooperated actively with the Newburyport Art Association in providing a Melopoeia performance of poetry and classic guitar in conjunction with NAA fund-raising events.  Additionally, the Powow River Poets work with young poets at Newburyport High School and, with Jabberwocky Bookshop, sponsor an annual poetry contest at the school.
